Wib Newton
M.A.R., L.P.C., L.M.F.T.

Wib is received his B.A. in speech/communication through West Virginia University in 1974. He went on to attend a private seminary in West Monroe, LA and then completed his Masters of Arts & Religion in counseling from Harding University in Memphis, TN (1982). From 1977, Wib has been on the staff of churches where he provided leadership in small groups, youth, family, education and counseling. In September, 2007, he began New Hope Counseling & Resources. Wib is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, a Texas Licensed Supervisor, a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor, and a Charter Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He's been married to Janice since 1976 and raised two sons, Jared & Colton.

Terri Slaughter
LPC, M.Ed.

Terri is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified School Counselor. She attended West Texas A & M University where she received her Bachelors and Masters. Terri began her counseling career in 2000 in AISD, moving to the private sector in 2007.

Larry Payne
D.Min, LPC Intern

Larry as been the Director of Spiritual Care at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital since 2002. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ft. Worth, Texas) with Master of Divinity (1976), Doctor of Ministry (1986); Ordained 1976, endorsed by the Baptist Convention of Texas. He graduated West Texas A&M University with Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (2008) and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Intern) with Texas Board of Professional Counselors. Larry has pastored churches in Beaver, Oklahoma, Lawton, Oklahoma and Coulter Road Baptist Church, Amarillo, 1987-2001. Married since 1971 to Jan, they have raised four adult children. He also leads JourneySoul Christian Ministries, offering conferences, inspirational books and counseling; published in professional religious journals and a novel of inspirational fiction, Mt. Carmel Memoirs: The Cycle (2006)

Jennifer Wilkerson
MA, LPC Intern

Jennifer Wilkerson earned her master’s degree in professional counseling from West Texas A&M University and is currently licensed as a professional counseling intern. Jennifer works with families, couples, and individuals, providing assistance in coping with stressors on their relationships. She also works with adolescents in dealing with coping issues, relationship problems, and other developmental issues. Jennifer also has her master’s degree in education and works as an administrator at a private Christian school. She lives in Amarillo with her husband of 17 years and her two sons.

Julie Rose
Military Family Outreach Coordinator

Julie Rose, MA, LPC Intern- Julie was raised in Amarillo, Texas and continues to live here with her husband and 2 children. As a military wife, Julie understands the issues faced when spouses leave home. She meets with these spouses regularly and is in touch with their needs. She is educated as a mental health counselor and teacher. She is involved with individual counseling with adults and children, groups such as parenting and children’s issues with grief and loss. She has a passion for this group of families and in working to encourage them with their difficulties in loss and separation. Julie and her husband, Clayton have been married 16 years and have two children. Julie is a former active duty military spouse and is currently a reserve military spouse.

Marty Loberg
M.Div, LPC Intern

Marty grew up in Wisconsin and Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Psychology, from Austin Theological Seminary with a M.Div., from West Texas A&M with a M.A. in Counseling, and is currently working on a D.Min. in Marriage and Family Counseling from Denver Seminary. His counseling primarily focuses on marriage and family issues, premarital issues, adolescents, and men’s sexual addiction issues. Marty is currently a Pastor and is happily married with four children. He loves outdoor sports, and he hopes to someday climb to Mt. Everest base camp.

Jami Wilmarth
M.A., LPC

Jami Wilmarth is a licensed professional counselor who has experience working with adolescents and adults who have eating disorders, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, addictions, and personality disorders. Her background also includes working with those who have been sexually traumatized, people with a criminal history, individuals struggling with managing anger, and people suffering from psychotic disorders.

Jami is able to work with individuals and groups with a variety of issues and is particularly interested in helping people with anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders.
